High Profile Long Beach Office Tower Awarded LEED® Gold Certification
Long Beach (June 4, 2015) – Shoreline Square, a premier Class A office tower overlooking the coastline at 301 East Ocean Blvd., in Long Beach, Calif., has earned LEED Gold status by going green — making it the only LEED Gold multi tenant office building in Long Beach certified under the EBO+M (Existing Buildings Operations + Maintenance) Rating system.
LEED – Leadership in Energy and Design – is a nationally recognized benchmark for sustainable construction and design developed by the U.S Green Building Council (USGBC). The LEED designation under EBO+M is focused on providing direction for existing vs. new construction projects.
Owned by San Diego-based Parallel Capital Partners, the 20-story Shoreline Square was granted LEED® Gold status by the USGBC late last month. The LEED® rating system is the foremost program for buildings, homes and communities that are designed, constructed, maintained and operated for improved environmental and human health performance.
According to Matt Root, CEO of Parallel Capital Partners, Shoreline Square achieved LEED® certification by implementing practical and measurable strategies and solutions aimed at achieving high performance in: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
“Shoreline has a 91 Energy Star score, high-efficiency plumbing fixtures that use 29% less water compared to the LEED baseline, an advanced green cleaning program that promotes healthy indoor air quality and a comprehensive recycling and composting program – all of which reduce operating costs and boost sustainability,” he said.
Additionally, Shoreline Square has adapted lighting conservation programs, diverts 100% of all e-waste and uses low nitrogen fertilizers for landscaping.
According to Rick Fedrizzi, CEO and founding chair of USGBC, the urgency of USGBC’s mission has challenged the industry to move faster and reach further than ever before, and Shoreline Square serves as a prime example of just how much can be accomplished.
